Liz do you do these as studies? Do you keep them around to use up open paint/wax? I used to do a lot of studies in acrylics. I still am so drawn to encaustics!
studies / work ; dont really differentiate. The small scale allows for speed and spontaneity, also I often do small ones when Im away from home. Sometimes they remain as studies, and occassionally, if I like them enough I mount and frame and even sell them! The last 5 small ones were all extra Christmas presents. Also they make great swaps with other artists!
oh, and I forgot, its not encaustic, which I believe is created using hot wax. This is cold wax medium, which is a product made from solvent and beeswax that you apply combined with oil paint. Thanks again 🙂
They are so delicate and yet they don’t give the impression of being pushovers (I am writing as if they are people rather than paintings because they each seem to have a personality and yet be a family, and that made me think of people, and things just went on from there…I hope you know what I mean. I really like them.)
