affordable art fair

I am showing these 8 pieces in the ‘Affordable Art Fair’ at An Griannan in Letterkenny next month
This will in effect be an art sale, with all works being priced, as the name suggests, at lower than the usual rate for the artist. I have far too much work stockpiled at home, so I will be pricing each of these at less than 100 euro in the sale. I have to deliver them to Letterkenny by next Wednesday 29th October.
However, if anyone wants to offer me 100 euro ( or exchange rate equivalent in £ or $) plus postage at cost for any of these before then please e mail me at:

this one is probably my favourite so far

Will take them off the boards tomorrow, then choose 3 or 4 to do some more work on, and retape those 4 to the board

These two paaintings, ‘underneath’ and’sea bed’ have been selected to be exhibited at Workshop, a new gallery space in Raval, Barcelona. I have just booked my flights to go over for the opening night.

Woa, you might say, isnt that a bit extreme to go so far just because two paintings have been selected for a group show?

Well the other exciting news is that while I am there I am going to be interviewed and therefore might appear in a new documentary film called Brand Irish being made by a film company based in Barcelona called PadiProductions

PadiProductions have won awards for their previous productions including Zero Tolerance

Workshop and Brand Irish are both on Facebook and Twitter, and  Brand Irish has  a WordPress blog too

beetroot soup and other colours

My studio this morning and a diversion into the culinary arts!

Beetroot soup heralds the changing seasons for me. Pulling the magenta globes from the cold soil, twisting off the crinkly green and purple tops, the deep marroon of the cooking water, the use of the top of the range for the first time this year.

A frustrating morning in the studio. Managed to put a hole through a canvas I was hoping to reuse. Cleaned out the sink and rescued about 15 solidifying paint brushes. Threw away several unsalvageble ones

Will eat the soup and return to the fray with renewed vigour

I have been looking more and more closely at rocks and sand and seaweed and mussels. Have taken a plethora of photos. Have posted to Facebook and twitter and Google+ and Tumblr and interest and LinkedIn and lost my passwords again and again

I have set the dehumidifier going in the studio. I have cleared up some of the mess. I have moved paintings around.

Now is the time
Well, tomorrow anyway!
