Not a permanent shift in style or anything, just playing with the ideas. I suppose it’s just an extension of the work I was doing with masking tape a few years ago. Sometimes memories of a technique/process lay dormant for ages and then pop up unplanned in response to a visual stimulus. I’ve been lying in the spare room bed looking through these railings a lot recently because there’s better WiFi in there and I pick up my messages etc with a morning cuppa. The cage idea has also formed gradually with an awareness of the refugee camps at Calais. A sort of visual and visceral fusion but without the thought processes that I’m implying here. Wow – that’s quite a shift Liz! Did I miss the transition?
