Just finished this diptych
2 canvases each 80 x 100cm so the whole piece is 80 x 200cm
Thinking of making the same idea on canvases at least twice the size

Update on trees from Hafod
Diptych 100cm x 200cm, probably finished now – and probable title is ‘Winter Trees’ (Hafod is an estate in Wales with lovely woodland open to the public, but not many people outside Wales know the name )
The other painting is still in progress, inspired by a sunset over the sea ‘Carrickfinn boat strand’
Also a diptych, but this time each canvas is 100cm x 80cm so the whole piece is 100 x 160cm
angry art process
tolerate chaos
the first 5 stages of work on 3 canvases in my studio this morning
the initial trigger was twofold: Diebenkorn’s notes to himself about how to go about making a painting
https://www.royalacademy.org.uk/article/diebenkorn-ten-rules
and there was a powercut
so I went with ‘tolerate chaos’ and also forced myself to not care about the first appearances of ‘prettiness’ and I didn’t ‘search for a subject’

residency
I am delighted to be artist in residence at An Gailearai in Gweedore, Donegal
First day today, very productive
First layers laid down
Display of completed work
Making progress with several layers building up, and the first random marks on a canvas 80 x 100cm
Early marks and layers on 2 paper pieces taped to the wall, each c. 75 x 55cm
6 of the bigger pieces as I left them at 5pm today, looking forward to going back tomorrow
