abstraction

image

Why on earth would I attempt to paint landscapes when you can get photos like these?
Admittedly the saturation is high and the pixels are visible
This sort of thing is a rich source for abstraction, combined with the sharp hail on my nose and my wet feet from the incoming tide

And Junos disappointment at the orange fishing float not being a ball (too hard too heavy) is just icing on the cake
Its February tomorrow, Spring will soon be here
Keep warm, be safe 🙂

update on 12 on paper

image

12 small works on paper
getting there slowly
several new layers of cold wax medium and oil, and a few new graphite marks
removed some of the tape so I can see where I’m at

this one is probably my favourite so far

Will take them off the boards tomorrow, then choose 3 or 4 to do some more work on, and retape those 4 to the board

These two paaintings, ‘underneath’ and’sea bed’ have been selected to be exhibited at Workshop, a new gallery space in Raval, Barcelona. I have just booked my flights to go over for the opening night.

Woa, you might say, isnt that a bit extreme to go so far just because two paintings have been selected for a group show?

Well the other exciting news is that while I am there I am going to be interviewed and therefore might appear in a new documentary film called Brand Irish being made by a film company based in Barcelona called PadiProductions

PadiProductions have won awards for their previous productions including Zero Tolerance

Workshop and Brand Irish are both on Facebook and Twitter, and  Brand Irish has  a WordPress blog too
