I went out to the studio just to have a look,
in tidy day clothes of course
Taped over both paintings and re-glazed the thin sharp gaps with a nearly white mix of paint and sunflower and turps
Removed the tape and added some more red, blue and yellow oil bar to bring up the colour again
They might be finished

prayer flags paintings stage 4
I’ve worked on these for a week now, today I added a dribbly top coat of a very pale blue with safflower oil
It needs some more highlights so when this glaze layer is dry I will work over it with random scratches and dashes of white and yellow
Still a bit too specific and representative for my liking, looking for a more impressionistic abstraction

Theory of Colors
this is the foundation stone / wheel / arch of my work
an inspiration first discovered in college
built on and flowering
thank you secret gardener for showing me the origin
raw frustration
3 rough-edged pieces of raw unprimed canvas
mounted and painted on commercial canvas
then removed from the mounts
swirls and shapes and angry colours
painted with ferocious energy
now hang limply over a rail
what next?
each piece is about 70cm squarish, originally mounted on 80cm sq canvas
I could re stretch and remount
I could paint over them
I could burn them
any thoughts?
a colour list
I’ve heard people love lists
so this (above ) is my favourite mainly yellow painting (private collection Ireland)
and here is my favourite red painting (private collection England):
And yes, here’s a favourite blue one (private collection England):
And here is my favourite green one:
and finally a favourite mostly purple one
