big stones day 4

a bit more of the same but slightly different

image

the 2 big stones paintings (100cm x 80cm) are nearly done I think

and 2 more 80cm square ones started

this purple one has the beginnings of a wall in dawn or dusk colours
I wonder what a neolithic community woyld have made of a flame filled sky?

update on 12 on paper

image

12 small works on paper
getting there slowly
several new layers of cold wax medium and oil, and a few new graphite marks
removed some of the tape so I can see where I’m at

this one is probably my favourite so far

Will take them off the boards tomorrow, then choose 3 or 4 to do some more work on, and retape those 4 to the board

I don’t have great skills with photography, and I’m not a master of the appropriate technology, however here is a mixture of edited photos of whole paintings with detailed closeups, in the seemingly random order that my Samsung tablet chooses
These are works by Liz Doyle (that’s for the search engine!) on wooden panels in oil and cold wax medium
The works shown here are ‘evening sky’, ‘territories’ ‘straits’and ‘4 leaves’

where from and where to now

image

image

where are we from and where are we going
just colour, pigment, wax on wood, like us just matter
how do they develop, where do they come from
and me
where to now?
the life and direction of my paintings is fascinating me just now, there’s a ‘zone’ sometimes when I’m making them when I’m not sure whether any decisions are being made, or if they have a life or destination of their own
