Back in the studio briefly, had to lay down some colour
Working on two canvases 80cm square
Started with oil bar, then a very liquid oil mixed in a jar with Malmittel quick drying medium
Used a roller to spread about, turning the canvas round frequently
Will work on them again when tacky still, maybe later today or tomorrow

Gamblin wax from T Lawrence including a free sample of ‘Torrit Grey’ oil paint that has been made from pigment collected from the air vents all in celebration of ‘Earth Day’. Amazing!
I’m enjoying building the layers, then scratching and scraping through and back. Off out again now, more later

New work in cold wax and oil on beautiful cradled wooden panels made by Milliken Bros.
Abstract with no starting point or theme at the outset.
However, the works are beginning to talk to me about land and territory, borders and trade routes.
Maybe because I live in the Republic of Ireland, close to the border with Northern Ireland. Maybe because I have just visited the Eastern Algarve in Portugal, close to the Spanish border. Maybe because the shapes emerging remind me of coastal contours with trade routes across the sea. Read what you like
