new work on unstretched coarse canvas in my studio today
they are not finished and I’m not sure where I’m going with them yet
they are inspired by prayer flags

a series of 6 paintings I made on paper last year
each mixed media (oil, oilbar and graphite pencil) 40 x 30cm approx
all sold in an on-line charity auction
I think I might make some more like this later on this winter
I’m thinking purples and reds and greens
raw frustration
3 rough-edged pieces of raw unprimed canvas
mounted and painted on commercial canvas
then removed from the mounts
swirls and shapes and angry colours
painted with ferocious energy
now hang limply over a rail
what next?
each piece is about 70cm squarish, originally mounted on 80cm sq canvas
I could re stretch and remount
I could paint over them
I could burn them
any thoughts?

dreaming in donegal
a new diptych just finished in my studio
2 canvases, each 60cm sq, painted together, one above the other
part seen, part imagined, part dreamt
a mountain and water and the autumn colours of the grass and rowan berries that grow on the turf bogs of donegal
oil and graphite and spray paint, with an experimental use of masking tape (used, sprayed then removed)
