This large work is having a powerful effect
In size alone it has a kick !
194 x 253cm
Here it is with lovely Seamus Quinn, who stretched and framed it.
He had to do the work at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny, as his framing shop (which is just across the road) wasn’t big enough
Here’s a view of it being worked on a couple of days earlier
And here it is taking up all the floor space in my sitting room before I rolled it up to take it to Seamus to be stretched
In progress
2 new works each c. 40 x 60″ (100 x160cm) on linen
This is ‘Evening walk, Cruit Island’
A large signature piece, on canvas, framed
This is an even larger piece, ‘Due West’
Approximately 150 x250 cm it will make a dramatic statement
These 2 above are ‘Stateside 1’ and ‘Stateside 2’
Each 120cm square on canvas

(cover image shows a few on Cruit Island, the starting point for many if my larger psintings)
It started like this, a huge piece of primed canvas (160 x 258cm, the end of the roll), stapled to the floor.
It took up so much of the floor that I had to stand on it to get round it
After a while working on it on the floor, I got Malachy to help me hang it sideways on the wall
And then I turned it round the right way
I taped off the edges, built up more layers and thought it was done.
But something was unbalanced
So finally I took the plunge
There she blows!
Here’s a closeup
And here’s a photo montage
A good day!
